HOLY METROPOLIS

OF NAFPAKTOS AND SAINT VLASIOS

Nafpaktos, 31th of December 2012

Announcement

Nafpaktos, December 31, 2012

for a slandering publication on the website http://www.agioritikovima.gr/

The site “Agioritiko Vima” ( http://www.agioritikovima.gr ), and its administrator, George Theoharis, published on 29th of December 2012 an one sided, misleading, insulting and defamatory text both against the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece and against the Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios Hierotheos.

On December 30, 2012, the Holy Metropolis of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios sent an out of court protest to the said reporter, asking for the deletion of the defamatory text, the posting of the Diocese’s text in place of the former text, restoring the truth and a public apology.

The said reporter refused to do it, citing flawed and irrational arguments.

The Holy Metropolis of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios is compelled to initiate proceedings under the Act for offenses in the Press and at the same time, because these proceedings are slow, to inform interested parties, by issuing this statement, adding the out of court protest and the text sent to the site “Agioritiko Vima” ( http://www.agioritikovima.gr ) for the restoration of truth.

The Holy Metropolis of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios considering the facts and circumstances under which the offense of slander and libel by the aforementioned reporter, his website and his informants took place, denounces publicly the unprecedented and unacceptable for journalistic ethics, methods for denigration of people.

The rest will be taken over by the justice of our country.
